LKS alignes with The Indian Prime Minister strategy

Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, soon after coming to power, said that urban planning was one of the challenges of his mandate, setting the goal of creating 100 new smart cities as an example for the rest of the cities.

Many national, state and local level authorities have supported that view. Consequently, LKS INDIA, with proven experience in urban planning, has had the chance to tender for several public contracts and has been awarded the Master Plan of Sanquelim. This city of Goa, that bases its economy mainly in mining, is suffering a process of social transformation. At the end of May, a preliminary meeting was held with the different agents of the city to discuss the Master Plan which will be developed over the coming months, which is destined to facilitate the sustainable growth of Sanquelim.

Moreover, North Goa Planning Development Authority, will carry out new urban planning in the city of Mapusa, the first to be carried out in the state of Goa. The plan will be developed in two phases, the first one covering 1,798,455 m² in Downtown Mapusa; and a second one in Gaunswada and Camarkhazan of approximately 650,000 m²; both will be carried out simultaneously and completed within a year. LKS will be responsible for conceptualizing the new urban plan and for correctly managing the redistribution plan.

On the 6th of July the first public presentation of the project took place attended by Indian Defense Minister, Mr Manohar Parrikar and Chief Minister of the State, Mr Laxmikant Parsekar.
